A longtime Methodist pastor and friend of the camp has gone to be with the Lord.
The Rev. Joseph A Palumbo Sr., 60, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17. Rev. Palumbo was a regular at camp for many years and served several United Methodist congregations in South Jersey. He was a husband to Donna, a father of four and grandfather of seven.
I remember him as a fun-loving guy who was particularly good at engaging junior campers as a speaker and just about everyone he encountered. His wife, Donna, was the head cook at camp for many years and all four of his children, Joe, Jeremy, Jennifer and Josh attended camp. If you were around camp at all in the late ’90s and early 2000s it was impossible to not know of the Palumbos and the ministry they brought not only to the camp but in the communities they lived.
Please join me in praying for the family, which has suffered much already less than two years ago with the death of Josh.
A viewing will be held at St. John’s UMC in Washington Township on Friday, from 5-7 p.m. with a service to follow. Click HERE for the obituary.
