“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” – Jeremiah 1: 4-5
It goes back even further than that. “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the one he loves.” Ephesians 1: 4-6
God knew us before the creation. He knew where and when we would be born, who our parents, family, and friends would be, how long we would live, and the plans he had for us. He knew that we would be his and made provision for us to be saved. Having foreknown us he predestined us to be conformed to the likeness of his Son. And having predestined us he also called, justified, and glorified us. (Romans 8: 29-30)
Let’s place our faith in the unmerited grace of God and not in anything that we have done and hold to the confidence that “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” Philippians 1:6
