Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw stole a lot of the headlines from Opening Day earlier this week when he pitched a complete game shutout and hit the game-winning homerun in the eighth inning, becoming the first pitcher to pitch a shutout and homer on opening day since 1953.

But as he and his wife, Ellen, explain in this video for Athletes In Action, the pitcher is making a difference in a way that goes well beyond his accomplishments on a baseball diamond.
