Name: Amanda Gruber
Nickname: I’d say my most common nickname would be “Manda” but when I first met some of my friends from my current youth group they claimed that I look like someone from their school so they had a habit of calling me “Tina” and the nickname stuck, haha.
Years on permanent staff: This will be my first year!
Years attending Delanco Camp: Two years of summer camps, and then various retreats in between.
Age: 15
Hometown: Lawncrest, PA
High school/college/graduate school/seminary: Clearview Regional HS
Home church: Trinity UMC in Clayton
Favorite foods: Many! But I’d say my absolute favorite would have to be french fries 🙂
Favorite music: Tons. Tenth Ave, Yellowcard, and Jack Johnson are a few.
Favorite movies: I love movies. I’m especially a fan of horror movies and chick flicks!
Favorite sports teams: I don’t watch professional sports much, so i’d have to say my younger brother’s soccer team.
Favorite Delanco Camp memory: The first time I ever went to Delanco, Camp Meeting 2006. I was saved that week, and God’s presence at camp was very evident. I also met so many amazing people that I am friends with today.
Bible verse you think speaks most to where you are right now: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you wil have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33
Do you have a hidden talent? I can make my tongue look like a clover.
When did you become a Christian? I’ve been a Christian my whole life. I grew up in the Catholic Church
What made you want to work at camp this summer? Delanco Camp and it’s ministries have been a big part of my spiritual life. I believe that this camp has helped me become who I am as a Christian today. I think it will be an honor this summer for me to be on staff at a place where you can be completely surrounded by people who love and care about you, and where the love of Jesus is so extremely present.
What are you looking forward to most this summer? I am looking forward to building and strengthening my relationship with God this summer, as well as working together with the other staff members in order to reach out to campers. I’m really excited to have a lot of fun this summer and making new friendships!
Name something unique about you that didn’t come up in your permanent staff interview. I was part of the group that helped to fix up the downstairs girls dorm 🙂
