Camp Checklist

This is a Checklist of sorts to prepare you from today up to your first day at Camp, as well as some background information of Camp Policies.

Several Weeks before camp

If you completed your registration form at least 7 days before Camp: You will recieve a packet in the mail from our Registar. This packet should contain: The Health Form, a Picture-Release Form, a notification how much money you owe (if applicable), and a Camper-Release Form. Please complete all the forms and prepare it for the first day at Camp. If you owe money, please mail it to our Registar (Delanco Camp Registrar, P.O. Box 303, Oceanville, NJ 08231)

If you also paid the entire fee for your Camp at least 7 days before Camp: You will recieve a FastPass in the mail. The FastPass will permit you to register 30 minutes earlier on Sign-In Day. (5:30 PM instead of 6:00 PM)

Don’t have a Form: If you did not get a form in the mail yet, it could be because your registration was sent too late. If you sent your registration during the last week before camp, there is a chance that we didn’t send the forms to you (Due to mailing delays) and instead, the forms will be there for you to fill out on registration day. If you sent your registration with ample time prior to camp (at least a week before camp) and did not get a form, you may contact us.

Special Diets: If your child has an allergy or special diet, our capable kitchen staff can accommodate dietary concerns within their limitations. If you are concerned about this, please contact the camp and ask for the Cook at least two weeks prior as it may require some provision of special food items on your part.

The Week before camp

Pack the Important Stuff only: Even if you were a Summer Camp veteran all your life, Delanco Camp has some different policies regarding on what you should and shouldn’t bring. Take a look at the list below for more info:

  • Flashlight

  • Pillow
  • Bugspray & Sunscreen
  • Toiletries, Soap & Shampoo
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Towels & Washcloth
  • Casual & Play Clothes
  • Modest one-piece bathing suits
  • Jacket and/or Sweatshirt
  • Medicine (If Needed)
  • Spending Money
  • Required Forms
Could Bring:

  • Small Sports Equipment

  • A Camera (Digital or Disposable)
  • Postage Stamp
Don’t Bring:

  • Pagers

Bring some Money: There are basically two areas where additional expenses occur. The first is the Snack Shop where soda, snacks, juices, and camp shirts are sold. (Shirts tend to be around $5 and food products range between 75 Cents to $2). The second are the free-will offerings that will be collected during the evening services. One night the offering will go toward missions, another night to support the Tim Bock Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships. The other offerings benefit the ministry of the camp.

Wait… No Cellular Phones?: Yes, Campers are not allowed to bring cellular phones for any reasons. We understand the concerns parents might have but in the past, we discovered that cellular phones were distracting and/or disruptive for the camp experience and during worship hours. All Cell-Phones found will be confiscated for the week, regardless of the reasoning behind its usage.

While it might be a culture shock for children, the children who come to camp did not notice anything after the first day because they were having so much fun with the other campers! Part of the fun behind Delanco Camp is being secluded from the rest of the world and having an opportunity to feel and talk to God one-on-one. Not having a cell phone also makes it eaiser for you to talk to new campers and make new friends in Christ.

Parents, while we understand the concerns you might have, letting your child bring a cell phone to camp is a disturbance to camp activities and promotes unfairness for the other campers who abide by the rules.  If there is an emergency, we will contact you as soon as possible. If you would like to contact your camper, please call our deans, and they’ll try to meet your request. They don’t bite, promise.

Sign-In Day

Bring your Stuff: Please look at the packing list above to bring the required materials your child will need. Also, remember to bring the packet that has been mailed to you (Health Card, Picture-Release Form, Camper-Release Form, any due money, and the FastPass if applicable). Note that if you registered for camp within the last week before Camp, you might not recieve this packet in the mail. In such events, the packet will be waiting for you on the first day of camp.

Find us: We’re at 191 Powell Place Road, Tabernacle, NJ and that’s the address you should use when entering the camp. The Registration Table will be at the front porch of the retreat center. (The front porch is the one facing Lake Agape). You may check out our Directions page and then follow the Camp Map to go to the Retreat Center.

Come early: If you had a FastPass you can begin to sign in at 5:30 PM of sign-in day. If you don’t have a FastPass, you can begin to sign in at 6:00 PM. It’s recommended that you come to sign in before 6:30 PM.

Medical Concerns: If your child has any special medical needs, please advise them to our Health-Director who will be present at the sign-in desk at Registration.

Who’s Picking Up?: Even though you’re dropping your child off today, start thinking on who will pick your child up on the last day of Camp. Note: If that person is someone else besides the parent of the child, you need to mention this to Camp which is mentioned in the last section of this guide.

The Week at camp

Visitors & Parents: Visitors are allowed to visit each evening during the evening service, which starts at 7:30 PM until before the evening activity begins. (Historically, most parents would take adventage of Wednesday to meet their child during evening service) Note that no visitors and/or parents are allowed to stay after the evening service for any reason.

Contact your Camper: Campers may only receive phone calls in the case of an emergency. These calls must go through the dean of the camp. If you have an emergency, phone 609-859-2262. (Remember Cellphones are not allowed at camp)

Mail Time: You may send mail or packages to Campers or Staff at any time. Send mail to [Insert Name of Recipient], c/o Delanco Camp, 191 Powell Place Road, Tabernacle, NJ 08088. Mail is distributed usually once a day during meals.

Trust our Staff: Our Camp has a large staff force of a 3-to-1 Staff to Camper ratio. Whenever water sports are taking place, Lifeguards must be present and a Health Director is on duty at all times.

Trust our Health Director: The Health-Director is always a state-certified doctor, nurse, paramedic, or EMT. There is a first aid room at the camp which has a regularly-stocked supply of necessary medical items. In the event that a serious injury occurs, you will be contacted as soon as reasonably possible.

Pick-Up Day at camp

Be there at the right time: Please make sure your chld can be picked up at 11:00 AM on the last day of camp by his or her parents or legal guardians. Also, please remember to bring Photo Identification along with you and pickup is at the Tabernacle at camp. Click here for Directions and to view the camp map.

Can’t be there at the right time: Note that your child can not be picked up later then 11:00 AM as this hinders the camp’s transition processes. If you can’t pick up your child at 11:00 AM, you can permit for someone else to pick him or her up. To do so, you must provide a letter to the Camp from the parent or legal guardian stating: the child’s name, the name and address of the person picking the child up, the date and time of pick-up, and a telephone number where the guardian can be contacted during the pick-up time. This should be accompanied by the guardian’s signature. The person making the pick-up should have photo identification at the time of pick-up.
